Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is comprised of members established in Section three of the Executive Order. Each meeting includes discussion of foodborne outbreaks, regulatory changes, and other relevant topics.
Food Emergency Response Communication Committee
The Food Emergency Response Communication (FERC) committee meets every Monday via phone conference to discuss food safety and emergency response concerns. The FERC objectives are to serve as a multi-agency food safety “core communication group,” provide situational awareness regarding events of food safety significance, identify multi-agency projects to enhance response, and strengthen multi-agency coordination for food emergencies. Multiple federal, state, and local jurisdictions as well as industry partners participate regularly in this meeting.
NC Fresh Produce Safety Task Force
The NC Fresh Produce Safety Task Force was formed in 2007 to ensure that North Carolina has a competitive, vibrant and safe fresh produce industry and provided many educational opportunities inn 2018. The task force served as a remote site for the Produce Safety Alliance (PSA) Water Summit in February and hosted the Produce Safety Professional Conference in March. The task force provided PSA Grower training by providing two Train-the-Trainer Workshops where 18 trainers and five lead instructors were trained and trained 413 growers through 25 grower workshops. On Farm Readiness Reviews (OFRR) to assist with farm preparation for compliance with FSMA were conducted by the task force, with 7 reviews completed and 18 requested, with more reviews planned into 2019.
